cisco aci storm control

Short overview about Cisco Aci Storm Control and what's good to know about.

When configuring ACI storm control, you can specify a percentage of the total bandwidth or a specific rate (kbps). The percentage of bandwidth is the default, and is recommended for most deployments. In this mode, the storm control policer drops packets when the ingress rate on the port exceeds the specified percentage of the total available port bandwidth.

If you configure a specific rate (kbps), the policer drops packets when the ingress rate on the port exceeds the specified kbps value. We recommend that you use this mode only if you have a specific rate that you want to enforce and the port speed can fluctuate.

When you configure ACI storm control, you must specify the traffic types to monitor and the action to take when the storm threshold is exceeded:

• Traffic types: You can monitor broadcast, multicast, or unicast traffic.

• Action: You can specify to either drop or forward the traffic that exceeds the storm threshold.
