How to Upgrade Cisco Aci

In this article we will discuss how to upgrade your Cisco ACI. There are two ways to upgrade your ACI: In-band and Out-of-band.

1. Download the software image from Cisco.com
2. Copy the image to the controller using the APIC GUI
3. Verify the image MD5 signature
4. Select the image in the APIC GUI and click install

Out-of-band is the disruptive method and is only to be used if In-band is not possible. The process is as follows:

1. Connect to the APIC using a serial cable
2. Put the APIC into maintenance mode
3. Copy the image to the APIC using FTP
4. Verify the image MD5 signature
5. Select the image in the APIC GUI and click install

Once the image has been selected and installed, the upgrade process will start. The APIC will reboot and upgrade the software. The process can take up to 30 minutes to complete.
