Cisco ACI 3.2 is a minor release that includes bug fixes and enhancements. Customers are encouraged to upgrade to this release.

This guide provides information on upgrading a Cisco APIC cluster from a previous release to Cisco ACI 3.2.

Before beginning the upgrade process, review the information in the Cisco ACI 3.2 Release Notes.

The upgrade process consists of the following tasks:

  1. Upgrade the Cisco APIC software.

  2. Upgrade the Cisco APIC firmware.

  3. Upgrade the APIC cluster.

  4. (Optional) Upgrade the APIC controllers.

Task 1: Upgrade the Cisco APIC Software

The first task is to upgrade the Cisco APIC software. The software upgrade process is the same as for any other software upgrade.

  1. Download the Cisco ACI 3.2 software from the Cisco website.

  2. Copy the software to the bootflash of each APIC in the cluster.

  3. Issue the upgrade apic command on each APIC.

  4. Reboot the APIC when prompted.

Task 2: Upgrade the Cisco APIC Firmware

The second task is to upgrade the firmware on the APICs. The firmware upgrade process is the same as for any other firmware upgrade.

  1. Download the Cisco ACI 3.2 firmware from the Cisco website.

  2. Copy the firmware to the bootflash of each APIC in the cluster.

  3. Issue the upgrade firmware command on each APIC.

  4. Reboot the APIC when prompted.

Task 3: Upgrade the APIC Cluster

The third task is to upgrade the APIC cluster. The cluster upgrade process is the same as for any other cluster upgrade.

  1. Download the Cisco ACI 3.2 cluster software from the Cisco website.

  2. Copy the software to the bootflash of each APIC in the cluster.

  3. Issue the upgrade cluster command on each APIC.

  4. Reboot the APIC when prompted.

Task 4: (Optional) Upgrade the APIC Controllers

The fourth task is to upgrade the APIC controllers. The controller upgrade process is the same as for any other controller upgrade.

  1. Download the Cisco ACI 3.2 controller software from the Cisco website.

  2. Copy the software to the bootflash of each APIC in the cluster.

  3. Issue the upgrade controller command on each APIC.

  4. Reboot the APIC when prompted.
