Cisco ACI is a data center solution that offers a centralized policy model, network virtualization, and application-centric infrastructure. The three main components of ACI are the Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC), the ACI Fabric, and the ACI Endpoints.
The ACI Fabric is a high-performance, low-latency network that interconnects ACI endpoints. The fabric consists of a spine-leaf topology of Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches. The spine switches provide high-bandwidth, non-blocking connectivity between leaf switches. The leaf switches provide connectivity to ACI endpoints, which can be physical or virtual servers, storage systems, or application appliances.
The ACI Endpoints are the devices that connect to the ACI Fabric and provide application services. ACI endpoints can be physical or virtual servers, storage systems, or application appliances.
