3. The spine switchesThe APIC controller is the central point of management and orchestration for the ACI fabric. All configuration and policy decisions are made through the APIC. The leaf switches are where most of the workloads reside. They provide direct connectivity to the servers and applications. The spine switches provide connectivity between the leaf switches and offer high-speed, low-latency forwarding.
