It’s been a little over two years since Cisco launched its Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) product. At the time, it was described as a game-changer for the data center, providing unmatched levels of automation and flexibility. But since then, ACI has failed to live up to the hype. In fact, some believe that it’s already dead.
Another issue is that ACI is very inflexible. It’s designed to work with Cisco’s own hardware, which means it’s not compatible with the majority of data center equipment. This makes it difficult and expensive to upgrade or expand an ACI-based data center.
Finally, Cisco has been slow to add new features to ACI. While the company has released a few updates, they’ve been far from groundbreaking. This lack of innovation is one of the main reasons why many believe ACI is already dead.
So, is Cisco ACI really dead? It’s hard to say for sure. But the signs certainly don’t look good.
